NHS dentists in North London offer various dental treatments to local patients at discounted prices. Treatments provided by NHS doctors are cheaper than in private practises, although the number of treatments available is limited. NHS practises also tend to be booked up in advance so getting an appointment is not always an easy task. Cosmetic dental treatments such us teeth whitening, veneers, white fillings or dental implants are not available in NHS clinics and these treatments can only be obtained privately. There are three types of charges at NHS dental surgery (set by Department of Health): £16.50, £45.60 and £198 fee. The basic fee covers the diagnosis of the problem and the highest fee of £198 covers treatments such as dentures or crowns. Most of the treatments performed in NHS clinics are in the £16.50 or £45.60 fee bracket. NHS dentists provide emergency treatments although some patients might find it difficult to book an imediate appointments, which is not  ideal for patients who require an emergency appointment. In such cases, NHS dentist might refer patients to private practises (or provide a service after hours as many NHS dentist also offer private treatments).
